San Gimignano is one of the most famous medieval villages in Italy and worldwide and one of the most required wedding destinations in Tuscany.
Its name is due to the bishop of Modena, who saved this village from barbarians, while its richness is due to its position on the ‘Francigena’ road from Florence to Siena. The towers of San Gimignano tell of internal battles between neighbors, whilst its walls, the cisterns and alleys witness the passage of artists from all over Europe and merchants of the excellent Vernaccia wine, which is still today the pride of this area.
Civil ceremony in San GimignanoYour wedding ceremony will be celebrated in a beautiful frescoed hall at the civic museum of the Town hall, in the heart of the village. After your ceremony you can have your ‘newly-weds’ walk, taking your first wedding photographs in the town hall courtyard, under the famous towers called ‘ Podestà ’ and ‘Grossa’ or on the terraces overlooking jaws dropping panoramas.
